Westlake Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Committee
Austin, Texas (February 21, 2018) – Dream Vacations Franchise owner and Vacation Specialist Lainey Melnick was recently appointed to lead the Humanitarian Committee by the Westlake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The appointment will be announced at the Westlake Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event on February 23, 2018, at Vaquero’s Café and Cantina, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. following Melnick’s participation in the second session of the inaugural class of Leadership Westlake.
“It’s been very rewarding to give back to my local community and become active in such an impactful Chamber of Commerce. I hope to use my leadership role to further our commitment to bring value from our talented membership to assist in a variety of humanitarian and philanthropic needs in our own backyard. I’m honored to be entrusted with this important responsibility,” said Lainey Melnick, Dream Vacations franchise owner of the Westlake, Texas location.
As a contributing member of this committee under the leadership of Elisa Pederson, owner of Pinkberry Austin, the Westlake Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian efforts grew in 2017 to more than 100 volunteers. Their efforts included contributing to the Community First Village, Relay for Life, Central Texas Food Bank, Trail of Lights and finishing off the year with a successful Mobile Loaves and Fishes Coat Drive that resulted in 70 percent more coats, 79 percent more blankets and 56 percent more cash donations from previous years. In addition, Melnick spearheaded the response to the devastation Hurricane Harvey caused Texas businesses with the Adopt-A-Chamber program, adopting the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, which is still an ongoing effort.
“Lainey’s active participation with the Westlake Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Committee and her participation in the inaugural class of Leadership Westlake has instilled confidence that our Philanthropic Projects will be in good hands and will continue to make a positive impact on our local community under her leadership,” said Katie Dryer, Dryer Creative, Westlake Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Board.
